Suno pricing: 10 credits buys two songs, and only 20 of them leave the building

Suno pricing sells credits, and one generation costs 10 of them and returns two songs, which works out at 5 credits a song. Three plans exist, the free one refills daily, and neither paid tier rolls anything over. Since 3 September 2026 a second meter runs alongside credits, and it decides what you can actually take away.

Key takeaways

  • One Suno generation costs 10 credits and returns two songs, so a credit buys a fifth of a song.

  • Free accounts get 50 credits a day, enough for 10 songs, no downloads and no commercial rights.

  • Pro's 2,500 monthly credits cover 250 generations, or 500 songs, but Pro downloads only 20 a month.

  • Nothing rolls over. Both meters reset each cycle, and purchased top-ups die if you unsubscribe.

What Suno actually meters

Suno meters two things and only tells you about one up front. The first is the generation credit, fixed at 10 credits for two songs. Suno states the rate obliquely: 50 free credits a day is "enough to make 10 songs per day". Everything else draws the same pool. Studio's Get MIDI costs 10 credits, still live in the help centre. Stem separation lost its rates: Auto Split cost 50 credits for up to 12 stems, the other modes 10 per stem, and that article now 404s with no live replacement.

The second meter is the download. Pro gets 20 song downloads a month and Premier 60, neither rolling over. Free accounts get none: the pricing page lists "No monthly song downloads" and quantifies no trial allowance. Studio exports sit outside the limit.

Together the arithmetic gets strange. Pro's credits fund 250 generations, or 500 songs a month, and Pro downloads 20 of them: 4% of what the plan lets you make. On Premier it's 2,000 songs against 60 downloads, or 3%. Per song generated, Pro annual costs about $0.016. Per song you can take off the platform, $0.40. The headline unit is the credit. The binding unit is the download.

How credits work

Credits expire, and Suno says so in three places. Free accounts get up to 50 credits daily on UTC, and yesterday's balance doesn't carry. Pro and Premier refill on the anniversary of the original purchase, so a 4 July subscriber refills at the same hour on 4 August. Annual plans drop credits monthly, not as a lump sum.

Run the allotment dry and paid users fall back to the same 50 credits a day free users get, from the next day to the end of the cycle. The order matters: at renewal the monthly allotment gets spent first, and the daily 50 don't reappear until it's gone.

Top-ups behave differently. The pricing page says purchased credits don't expire but need an active subscription to spend, so cancelling strands whatever you've paid for. Suno publishes no top-up rate anywhere public. Buy More Credits sits behind a login.

What happens when you hit the limit

Nothing auto-charges. Generation stops and the 50 daily credits take over, a softer landing than most credit systems give you. Suno's FAQ frames it as a feature: exhaust your credits and "you'll automatically get 50 bonus credits per day until your billing cycle renews." No card gets hit.

Songs made with those bonus credits still carry commercial rights while you're subscribed. Drop back to free and new songs don't. Cancelling doesn't claw back what you already made: the help centre confirms you keep commercial rights on songs created while subscribed, and suggests keeping invoices as proof. It doesn't work backwards. Free-plan songs stay non-commercial unless Suno grants an exception it says it can't guarantee.

Flexprice’s Take

Suno publishes the one number most credit vendors hide, then adds a second meter it barely mentions.

A generation costs 10 credits and returns two songs, and the help centre backs the maths out for you: 50 free credits a day is "enough to make 10 songs per day". Most credit vendors publish nothing like it.

The fallback is the other good instinct. Empty the pool and you drop to 50 bonus credits a day rather than stopping dead or getting auto-charged.

The download cap is where it gets slippery. It arrived on 3 September 2026, sits in the feature list rather than near the credit maths, and makes the credit allowance close to decorative if you want files. Pro funds 500 songs a month and lets you download 20.

Suno hasn't reconciled its own wording either. The live rights article says songs "made" while subscribed carry commercial rights, while a newer revision in the help-centre search index says "downloaded". With downloads rationed, that verb is worth money.

Best For

High-volume experimenters who listen and share inside Suno.

Watch Out For

The 20-download ceiling on Pro, and top-up credits that evaporate if you cancel.
